It's possible, the mental skills overlap is not that strong.

USA Today pulled a photograph of Condoleezza Rice from its website after a weblog revealed it was manipulated, giving the secretary of state a menacing, demon-eyesing stare.

Which one was the "adjusted" photo -- the one with the demon eyes, or the one with the human eyes?

a couple of hours ago but it looks like The Rabid Shi Tzu's removed the comments that corroborated USA Today's explanation and now only has the comments that make it sound like a conspiracy.

Given how often images are photoshopped these days, I'd like to see legislation passed that requires a small caption on any published image that is retouched in any way. I doubt that this will ever happen though.

Images are always retouched, it's not a new phenomena at all. Celebrities don't want to present the impression that they have blemishes just like regular people. Photographers dodged and burned with bits of paper and magnifying glasses to darken or lighten parts of their photos to make it more artistically appealing. The great out doors is made even greater by using highly saturated films like fuji velvia etc.

Mind you, whoever retouched this was ham fisted and needs to find another line of work.
