I was going to post a link to this article:
Why Minds are Not Like Computers
- but the comments section at Metafilter
dissuaded me from doing so.
So, instead I'd like to ask the LinkFilter hive mind - what are some good recent books or articles that descibe the state of the art of modelling organic thinking running in living flesh? That is, modelling or real-time simulation of the minds of a amoeba, a wasp, a mouse, a crow, or other such mentality created by natural selection?
I have an electrical engineering background and do some programming as part of my present job. So, I'm not looking for something that's excessively "pop science", not also not something that only people in the field(s) can understand.
