Laurie Anderson: new album
Posted by johnny2000 7 years ago
“Homeland” - a concept album about the tenuous state of contemporary America—songs deal with torture (or, if you’d prefer, enhanced interrogation), health care, religion, and the recent and ongoing economic collapse—has been rumored for a long time, and Anderson has played sections of the piece on tour for more than two years. Now, Nonesuch Records has named a release date; the set, Anderson’s first studio work since “Life on a String,” from 2001, will be out on June 15. Guests include John Zorn, Kieran Hebden, and Antony Hegarty, and the record was produced by Anderson with Roma Baran and Lou Reed, Anderson’s husband (who also pitched in to name Anderson’s synthesized alter-ego, formerly anonymous, now known as “Fenway Bergamot”).

Laurie Anderson performs some songs of “Homeland” at Live from Lincoln Center (Episode 188, recorded on May 3, 2007.
