Darwish: What's the protest?
lola_ice: Good question! On average over the last ten years there are 3.5 protests a day in Mexico City . The red flags all say Frente Popular Francisco Villa. I do not have a real clue. Being that the flags are all red I am guessing they are some form of Communist organization. So I can only surmise that the protest is against corruption, for indigenous rights, better housing, theft of natural resources, theft of water resources or any of a million problems endemic the the poor of Mexico.
Darwish:

Googling that text from the flags yields an exciting page in Spanish which I have no hope of understanding.

Darwish: God bless 'em. I hope they get what they need.

Protests here are so frequent that hardly anyone pays attention to them. I shoot my photos and move on. They are a good excuse for taking photos of the riot police who often outnumber the protesters.
