Facts About Israel
Posted by Bud Tugly in history 12 years ago
1. Israel became a state in 1312 B.C., two millennia before Islam;
2. Arab refugees from Israel began calling themselves "Palestinians" in 1967, two decades after (modern) Israeli statehood;
3. After conquering the land in 1272 B.B., Jews ruled it for a thousand years and maintained a continuous presence there for 3,300 years;
4. The only Arab rule following conquest in 633 A.D. lasted just 22 years;
5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem was the Jewish capital. It was never the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even under Jordanian rule, (East) Jerusalem was not made the capital, and no Arab leader ever came to visit it;
6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in the Bible, but not once is it mentioned in the Qur'an;
7. King David founded Jerusalem; Mohammed never set foot in it...

foot2000: Will someone please explain to me why Muslims, Jews and Christians cnnot peacefully coexist in this part of the world when they do so here in America and other western countries?
Is it lack of food or natural resources?
I abhore the violence and this time it does seem like Isreal is the bad guy here, but it sounds to me like every war that has happenned in this region isn't over anything except who started or won the previous war. this pattern seems to go back for eons. fighting over violence seems rather redundant.
FoolProof: This is what happens when you grow up in a society that resembles Europe in the Dark Ages. This is what happens when you spend all your time in school studying religion instead of history.
Did anyone else find that one a tad redundant?
vinfille: so... if Jews are in between the two countries, they pray with their backs to Mecca?
...and then?
testicle: Its the heat. THey're not suicide bombers because they hate us. They just want to catch the breeze.
reflex: Intrigued by the genetic similarities between the two populations, geneticist Ariella Oppenheim of Hebrew University in Jerusalem, who collaborated on the earlier study, focused on Arab and Jewish men.
Her team examined the Y chromosomes of 119 Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews and 143 Israeli and Palestinian Arabs... segments of DNA called microsatellites were similar enough to reveal that the men must have had common ancestors within the past several thousand years. The study, reported here at a Human Origins and Disease conference, will appear in an upcoming issue of Human Genetics.
Bud Tugly: The origin of Jews and Arabs is in the Torah.
Abraham had 2 sons, Ishmael (born of the bondwoman Hagar) and Issac (born of wife Sarah).
Abraham is the father of the Jews through Issac, and the Arabs through Ishmael.
FoolProof: So... Ishmael is a bastard?
from the comments....
FoolProof: None of this really matters. They won the war, the land is theirs. Much like we won the war(s) with Mexico, so Texas and the west are ours. Whining about Israel keeping land that they won in battle should be met with a metallic slap.
I'm really sick of all this justification for ownership of that speck of desert. I wish the muslims would just give it up. That land is not part of their caliphate any more. EOS.

Following that logic shouldn't the Arabs be justified in trying to take it back through violence? It's a perfectly valid method of attaining land, afterall.
What a dolt.
the subject is a touchy one
phlap: The map of Arab lands makes a point but Iran is not Arab--it is Muslim, though.
When you take land in war (thez land taken not from Palestinians) you don't give it back without a treaty in return. Palestinians want aq state so they voted in Hamas, the group who states publicly they are intent on destroying Israel.
`Want to end the madness? Have the Arab League and the arab countries announce that the UN mandated land of Israel (vote giving the the right to statehood in an area formerly controlled by England and previously by Ottomans) has the right to exist. Period. They will not do this. And we see the result.
Bud Tugly: I thought about that after I posted it.
Iranians are not Arab, they're caucasian. Persian specifically.
It should read "Muslim Lands".
zouhair: Short Answer : BULLSHIT
zouhair: I'm realy getting fed of whining jews
"OH MY GOD THEY WANT TO KILL US (hey send the bombs)"
"WHAT A SUICIDE BOMBER, OH MY GOD THEY WANT TO DESTROY US (destroy his house and unroot his trees, and send some more bombs when you out there)"
"BUSH, BUSH, SEE, SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING TO POOR JEWS (we should be carefull with those nuts, they will kill us all if Jesus come back)"
Mac: zouhair, perhaps this isn't the appropriate forum for jew-bashing.
Mac: And you already had a (sort of) warning over here
Take your misplaced hatred elsewhere.
zouhair: And the pic above is just Arab and Muslim bashing so no problem then!!
crataegus: The Jew baiting and the Arab baiting stops. Now.
rougy: Oh...but Arab hatred is all okay here, right?
Apparently so.
FoolProof: Can't you read? Did you not notice the admin trying to defuse the situation? Do you not see that you're repeating the same goddamned thing that zouhair said?
He's pointing out something different, Ss. He's pointing out that there are a number of users that are routinely equally and similarly abusive to Muslims and Arabs on LF, and their behavior is tolerated.
None of it is acceptable. Bigotry is bigotry.
crataegus: Zouhair just happened to be the last one to post when I was online to catch it. My point is that it is not OK, and it stops.
vinfille: You know, I'm pretty much sick of anyone whining as part of any group. Any group you can think of- whether the dividing line is gender, race, religion, or socio-economic status- has had times of oppression and power. Some more than others, granted, but every group has been through the grinder.
We're responsible as individuals for our interactions with the world and our treatment of others. Hiding behind herds of people who happen to be like us in some way, and using that herd as an excuse for failure or unjust leverage, is a shortcut and a weakness.
When we take individual responsiblity for our treatment of others- that's when we'll realize that we're all the same, dammit.
Perhaps I can offer a common enemy, for all:
crustacean: BEARS!
Bud Tugly:
I'm glad you didn't choose chimpanzees because I'd have to open a can of GOP Whoopass on you!
soma13: I'm glad you didn't. One quagmire at a time, please.
