President George W. Bush will soon seek about $100 billion in additional emergency funds for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a report on Wednesday by Democratic staffers for two key panels in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In a broad report criticizing Republicans' fiscal decisions, Democratic staffers on the House Appropriations Committee and House Budget Committee also noted that Congress already had appropriated about $379 billion for the war in Iraq.

Come join the slowest-growing religion in the world - Dudeism. An ancient philosophy that preaches non-preachiness, practices as little as possible, and above all, uh...lost my train of thought there. Anyway, if you'd like to find peace on earth and goodwill, man, we'll help you get started. Right after a little nap.
According to a July poll conducted by Scripps News Service, one-third of Americans think the government either carried out the 9/11 attacks or intentionally allowed them to happen in order to provide a pretext for war in the Middle East. This is at once alarming and unsurprising. Alarming, because if tens of millions of Americans really believe their government was complicit in the murder of 3,000 of their fellow citizens, they seem remarkably sanguine about this fact. By and large, life continues as before, even though tens of millions of people apparently believe they are being governed by mass murderers. Unsurprising, because the government these Americans suspect of complicity in 9/11 has acquired a justified reputation for deception: weapons of mass destruction, secret prisons, illegal wiretapping. What else are they hiding?
British cabinet ministers have been told by the country's Foreign Office to drop the phrase "war on terror" and similar terms that may anger British Muslims and "increase tensions more broadly in the Islamic world."

The Guardian reports that the change "marks a turning point in British political thinking about the strategy against extremism."
When the twenty-second amendment was ratified by the states in 1951, it eliminated the ability for the President to serve more than two terms. While this was certainly a good safety net to have around, it is obvious that the time has come to make a new amendment to the Constitution, repealing the effects of the 22nd amendment. It is a necessity that this is done as soon as possible in order to reelect President George W. Bush to a third term.

No President in the history of our great nation has achieved as much success as President Bush. Under his leadership the country has seen safety in the homeland, only marred by a few minor terrorist attacks.
Montserrat is situated in the northern part of the Lesser Antilles, which is a volcanic island arc formed along the junction where the Atlantic tectonic plate is subducted beneath the Caribbean plate. Nearly all the islands along the arc are the result of subduction related volcanism. Most have andesitic stratovolcanoes, which have been produced by explosive eruptions, coupled with the growth of lava domes and associated pyroclastic flows, and the occasional extrusion of lava flows.

The Montserrat Volcano Observatory was established soon after the first phreatic eruption of the Soufriere Hills volcano on 18th July 1995 and was staffed initially by scientists from a variety of organisations working with local personnel. The scientific teams came mainly from the Seismic Research Unit (SRU) of the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and the British Geological Survey (BGS). Valuable assistance was also provided by the Volcanic Disaster Assistance Program of the United States Geological Survey, the University of Puerto Rico, the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (Guadeloupe Volcano Observatory and Martinique Volcano Observatory) and numerous individual researchers from universities in the U.K. and the U.S.A.

A tribute to the 75-minute period where Tom DeLay actually received feedback from America. The experiment has now ended, but, this blog has taken a snap-shot, just for you...

"I have created this blog in order to provide Americans with a new meeting place where such opinions and viewpoints might be better shared, discussed and debated; a place where conservative and traditionalist Americans might speak truth to power and to one another. "

Apparently Tom's 'democrat filtering technology' wasn't quite up to snuff.

One day you might find yourself jumping on your boyfriend or Husband’s computer to check your e-mail. As you’re typing in the URL you might see a long string pop up with curious words like, “filthy naked underage Asian cheerleader sluts.” Maybe you “accidentally” click on this URL and suddenly you’re faced with naked midget grannies doing unspeakable things with vegetables. You might be horrified at what your significant other is looking at, but before you start packing your bags and dividing your DVDs you should know he might not have wanted to see those pictures any more than you. Here are some things to keep in mind.
Why Do People Like Anime?
Posted by fb- in it's the arts 11 years ago
Everyday, millions of people watch anime. They watch your Full Metal Alchemists, your Sailor Moons, and your Cowboy Bebops. While that is all well and good, some even go beyond that. A minute percent of the world's populace dwell in a world we call cosplay. Cosplay is, simply, dressing up as one's favorite anime/manga character. Despite the sickened looks of co-workers, spouses, friends, relatives, and random encounters on the street, these "cosplayers" go to extremes to show their love for Anime. Obviously, an act like cosplay requires as much devotion as it requires time and effort. What creates such as devotion? What is it that attracts so many people to anime?

A question I've wondered many times..

The top U.S. anti-drug official said Saturday that Afghan poppies would be sprayed with herbicide to combat an opium trade that produced a record heroin haul this year, a measure likely to anger farmers and scare Afghans unfamiliar with weed killers.

John Walters, the director of the U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy, said Afghanistan could turn into a narco-state unless "giant steps" are made toward eliminating poppy cultivation.
Whitewashing Jesus

While we can never be exactly sure of what Jesus, Mary and Joseph actually looked like, we know they were not fair-skinned, flaxen-haired Europeans. And, though an emerging fringe of historians would argue otherwise, it’s fairly certain they weren’t black Africans. In all likelihood, what they were was something in between: olive-skinned, dark-featured Semitic Jews living in Israel. Yet depictions of them as such are exceedingly rare compared to the countless number of images that have proliferated through the millennia portraying them as Caucasians.
Jesus Should Have Been Aborted
Posted by fb- in gods 11 years ago
Christ should have been aborted. To begin with, Mary was raped by the Holy Spirit. There was no consent, just a mere warning by the Angel Gabriel. "Hey Mary, you've been chosen to get knocked up by God! Have fun! Got some shepherds to scare, so see ya! And he was gone. Sure enough, the Holy Spirit showed up while she was sleeping (so she couldn't protest) and impregnated her. This was rape and it was wrong. She was violated and had every right to choose to suffer less for what was done to her.

One must also consider Mary's personal situation. She was an unwed mother of 14 living in a society where women who lost their virginity outside of marriage were stoned to death. Even the staunchest of pro-life activists will often concede that abortion should be allowed when the mother's life is at risk. In Mary's case, it most definitely was. Furthermore, barring the risk of stoning, she had no way to support the child. Women didn't earn money for their labors in those days. Joseph bailed her out of the dilemma, proving himself to be quite and exceptional male considering the times in which he lived. Most guys would be searching for the largest rock.

Sunday, December 7th, 1941

The Attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise aerial attack largely on Pearl Harbor, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi, and the USA launched by the 1st Air Fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy of the task force Carrier Striking Task Force [1] on the morning of Sunday, December 7, 1941 (Hawaiʻi time). It was aimed at the Pacific Fleet of the United States Navy and its defending Army Air Corps and Marine defensive squadrons as preemptive war intended to neutralize the American forces in the Pacific in an impending World War II. Pearl Harbor was actually only one of a number of military and naval installations which were attacked, including those on the other side of the island.

Of 8 American battleships in the harbor, the attack resulted in 1 destroyed, 2 sunk at their moorings, 1 capsized, 1 beached and 3 damaged but afloat. With the exception of the Arizona (destroyed), all the others were refloated or righted and 6 (Nevada, West Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland, California and Pennsylvania) were repaired and returned to service. While the Oklahoma, which had capsized, was righted, she was never repaired. Additionally, the attack severely damaged 9 other warships, destroyed 188 aircraft, killed 2,403 Americans, including 2,335 servicemen and 68 civilians. However, the Pacific Fleet's three aircraft carriers were not in port and were left undamaged, as were the base's vital oil tank farms, Navy Yard and machine shops, submarine base, and power station, as well as the Headquarters Building (home to the intelligence unit HYPO). These provided the basis for the Pacific Fleet's campaign during the rest of the war.
